🎆 Happy Ambitious New Year!

2022 has come to an end, and it’s unbelievable how much happened this year, both in the tech market and us in the Ambitious community. I’m writing y’all today to remind you how quickly things can change. If you’re struggling, keep your head high. If you’re doing well, be thankful and help those in need.

💀 The death of NFTs

At the beginning of the year, NFTs were the craze. I myself was part of a highly speculative NFT project. In March, the NFT and Crypto market imploded. Regulations hit the biggest markets in the world and the get-rich-quick schme of flipping NFTs fell on its face.

💰 Dogecoin & Elon

Elon pumped the sh** out of Dogecoin. I couldn’t believe it. TBH I didn’t even buy a $1 worth because I couldn’t fathom the idea of buying into something that wasn’t fundamentally a real currency. I know plenty of people who made alot of money and plenty who lost alot.

Crypto came crashing down to 🌎

Crypto companies were dumping millions of dollars in advertising. Everyone and their mother knew about crypto. The only thing keeping people buying was the idea of getting rich quick. There was no real utility for crypto, since less than 1% of retailers accepted it as exchange.

🛑 Free money came to a screeching halt

The stimulus check era is over and it’s obvious people re-learned to value money. My parents own a grocery store and the same people who were buying high-end groceries are now seeking cheaper alternatives. So if people are comprimising on survival goods like food, of course they aren’t spending as much on crypto, travel, doordash and going out to eat. This is the premise of recession worries.

💭 What did I learn from all this?

Staying ahead of the market, understanding trends and continuing to upskill is the #1 way to avoid getting burnt in today’s world. Life will not always present us get-rich quick schemes and government involvement to ease our financial struggles. Economic ladders were built on skills and trade. And that same premise applies in today’s world.

Don’t give into social media, learn new skills and don’t be afraid to fail. If you’ve been thinking about doing something new, start now! Don’t wait a single second and quit making excuses

💰 What I’m doing in 2023

• Learning no-code skills to start online businesses quicker. I love building mobile apps so I’m trying to get good at FlutterFlow.

• Building the Ambitious community to 10K members to help us all stay ahead of the market.

• Holding onto my cash savings. Not making huge investments unless its a 50% off real estate deal with decent ROI.

• Not buying crypto.

• Watching the stock market index. We’re slowly continuing downward but keeping an eye on reversal trends, like shift in government, lowering interest rates or possible stimulus (unlikely).

• I’m officially full time building Ambitious. I left my previous role at PrizePicks, the #1 Sports App in the iOS App Store.

• We’re rebuilding our mobile app from the ground up. Focusing heavility on building the first ever TikTok style learning experience for 21st century life skills.

• Launching project challenges January 7th, 2023. Earn cash prizes + freelancing opportunities for taking your best shot at completing projects for real startups.

• Launching Ambitious App V2 in March 2023. I’m telling you - you won’t want to miss the new app. Imagine TikTok and Duolingo have a baby. That’s what we’re building.
